Gillian is a member of the Library&amp;#39;s Tuesday Writers group and workshopped the story with the group late last year. 			<description>The Melbourne Athenaeum 170 years - A journal of the history of a Melbourne institution was launched on 12 November.The journal includes: A wonderful memoir by playwright Ray Lawler, who writes about his experiences of the organisation over the past 50 years.The life and times of journalist, author and former Committee member, Marcus Clarke.Two articles about former secretaries by volunteer archivist Margaret Bowman.A pictorial history of the building.Contemporary accounts of different periods of the organisation&amp;rsquo;s long history.The Melbourne Athenaeum would like to thank the City of Melbourne&amp;rsquo;s Arts Grant program, the Lord Mayor&amp;rsquo;s Charitable Foundation and the Public Records Office for providing funding for this publication. The journal will be available for $29.95, but members will pay $19.95 or get one for free when they sign up a new Library member. (A $4 postage and handling fee will apply for mail orders.)
